It’s easy, effective and joyful

Us

The vehicle used by Alive to the World® is a fun, on-going story about Charles and his cousin Alice and their friends, inviting them to think and discuss about their world and the options and choices that they face at each age.

Our students love the story, and we are constantly surprised to see that students go ahead and read the entire book in advance.

Based upon what has come to be called the Pedagogy of the Integration of the Person, this curriculum uses in each of its 13 levels (K-12) the tried-and-true method of “Head, Heart and Hand.”

Each exciting chapter in the adventures of these children, who grow through adolescence to young adulthood, attains its objective through the 3 levels of the person: spiritual, psychological and corporal, or knowledge, motivation and skills.

For the teacher, this course is made easy. There are 13 Teacher Guides with lesson plans and suggested activities to avoid additional work for the teacher. Each lesson plan is presented with flexible options for activities and discussion and he or she will soon find that the classroom becomes easier to manage as the students begin to adopt a common language of values and cause-and-effect.

Teachers notice that the books are already open when class begins and many have read ahead. Living vicariously through the successes and mistakes of the characters in the books as they face everyday situations enthralls the girls and boys who use these books. The values are universal and so a great unity is achieved in the class. Teachers and principals have noticed a remarkable diminishment of bullying, incidences of violence and truancy, where these have been a problem, and an increase in volunteerism and community service.

The Method, consisting of 13 student texts and with full-color illustrations take the students to understand historical and cultural facts which match the values underlying each chapter. Alive to the World offers one lesson per week through the year, keeping the kids interested without taking too much of their time. No homework or exams are called for. Logical thinking about the issues in the story is fostered.

Based on accepted psychology and brain development, the books follow the natural development of children and address at age-appropriate levels issues which concern all children and adolescents. Stereotypes and judgmental bias have been scrupulously avoided so that each reader can figure out the values for him or herself.
