Frequently Asked Questions

Can Alive to the World training be offered to parents and guardians?

The program is designed to train teachers, who act as facilitators in the classroom and continuously engage families in putting values into practice. Through teachers’ pedagogical guidance, a dynamic partnership between school and home is encouraged.
In addition, our organization offers talks and educational workshops for parents and caregivers on topics related to social-emotional education, values, and parenting. These activities are coordinated at the request of interested institutions to strengthen support within the family environment.

Are you part of an institution interested in these opportunities?

Write to gerencia@aprendiendoaquerer.org to request a workshop or talk, tailored to the needs of your school community.

Can students in higher grades who have never participated in the program before receive Alive to the World?

Yes. All students can participate because Alive to the World can be introduced simultaneously across different grades and school years. The program is aligned with the developmental stages of children and young people.

In what areas should the Alive to the World program be implemented at the secondary school level in Venezuela?

It can be implemented within the Guidance and Social Development and/or Citizenship Education components of the curriculum. However, the goal is for it to be integrated across all subject areas, with teachers incorporating Alive to the World into their respective disciplines. We have mathematics teachers who have done this successfully.

What is the minimum amount of time per week recommended for implementing the program?

Ideally, two hours per week should be dedicated to its implementation.

What is the minimum number of lessons a student should complete during the school year?

Between 20 and 25 lessons.

Can any teacher implement the program?

Yes, but in order to understand and properly use the program’s tools, teachers are required to complete the training workshop provided by Alive to the World. This gives them the necessary framework to provide comprehensive education based on values, character development, and personal growth, in accordance with the educational approach of Alive to the World.

How can the program be acquired?

Through our website, by writing to comunicaciones@aprendiendoaquerer.org, or through our social media account @aprendiendo.aquerer.

Is the Teacher’s Guide mandatory?

Yes. The Teacher’s Guide provides direction throughout the entire process and includes planning for the three pedagogical stages—Knowing, Embracing, and Acting. It helps teachers understand how to address learning objectives, which teaching strategies to use, how to assess students’ progress, and how to adapt the curriculum to meet individual student needs. It also helps ensure that the program’s educational standards are properly implemented.

Can Alive to the World be implemented without the books?

The student books and Teacher’s Guides provide a clear and organized structure for the content, facilitating sequential and progressive learning in accordance with students’ developmental stages.

Is it necessary to plan objectives for all three stages of the Alive to the World methodology: Knowing, Embracing, and Acting?

Yes. For education to be comprehensive, students need to progress through all three stages. Knowing is when the student receives the information; Embracing occurs when that information becomes meaningful and is internalized; and Acting is when the student applies it in daily life.

This is achieved through our unique methodology, the Pedagogy of the Integration of the Human Person

Can Alive to the World be integrated into classroom educational projects?

Absolutely. Trained teachers already have the necessary experience, and our pedagogical support team provides guidance to help ensure that the process is successful.

Is it mandatory for students to read the stories in the books?

Yes, because the stories allow students to experience the cognitive dissonance necessary to achieve each lesson’s objectives. Through the allegorical effect of the stories and with teachers’ guidance, students are encouraged to integrate the different dimensions of their actions as human persons.

Should the topics be taught sequentially, or can they be addressed according to the circumstances, needs, or specific situation of a group of students?

Although the program is not rigid, ideally it should be implemented sequentially, as this facilitates monitoring and assessment of student learning.

What is the purpose of the Alive to the World Program?

Alive to the World promotes character development in children and adolescents by providing them with social-emotional tools for sound decision-making. Guided by universal values such as respect, empathy, and responsibility, we accompany each student in discovering their life purpose and becoming the best version of themselves.

How does Alive to the World address affectivity and emotional development?

It is approached through the integration of the human person, considering the individual in his or her fullness—mind, body, and spirit. Human dignity, supported by emotional intelligence, encourages students to recognize themselves as unique, unrepeatable, and valuable human beings, enabling them to build strong and happy families.

What inspired the creation of the Alive to the World Program?

In 1982, Christine de Vollmer, together with a group of lawyers and physicians, spoke out against abortion. At that time, she came to realize that education was necessary rather than seeking painful solutions, particularly for women and unborn children. This became the principal inspiration for the creation of Alive to the World, a program grounded in an anthropological understanding of the human person.

Is the program intended only for formal school settings?

Alive to the World is highly flexible and can be adapted to different environments. Our team provides guidance throughout the adaptation process, allowing the program to be implemented outside schools, including in parent organizations, communities, youth groups, and other settings.

Why do you request so much information?

Collecting data allows us to measure the program’s actual impact. Through precise indicators, we can identify successful aspects of implementation and promptly detect areas that require adjustment in order to achieve the expected results. Impact data also provides the transparency and evidence needed to secure the resources and funding necessary to ensure the continuity of the program.

In addition, certain institutional information is essential for legal procedures and for obtaining the authorizations required by educational authorities to operate in each school. Finally, this information enables us to maintain continuous, up-to-date communication adapted to the circumstances of each school community.

What is the relationship between PROVIVE and Alive to the World?

PROVIVE is the legal entity, a nonprofit civil association. Alive to the World is the registered trademark of the educational program and is owned by PROVIVE.

How can I obtain Alive to the World books and Teacher’s Guides?

The student textbooks and Teacher’s Guides are part of the comprehensive package that each educational institution receives when adopting our program. We provide a complete pedagogical model that includes teacher training, implementation of the curriculum within the institution, ongoing support, and evaluation of results.

Within this model, the educational materials are key tools that support student learning and teachers’ work and, therefore, are not offered separately.
